MQ/Spheris

I am currently employed by MQ, fortunately (sorry for that) I am on short term disability. I keep reading my emails and now MQ has purchased Spheris during their bankruptcy. So many changes. I have been with MQ since 1999 and have seen so many good supervisors and MTs fall off the face of the earth. I started as an MT, moved to QA, to MME, then to Team Lead. Team Lead was dissolved and we then became MMEs again. My problem is that now there really is no QA. I worked hard to learn and produce and love to be able to help others to learn and strive to be good at their jobs. Now, I am back where I started at MT work and VR. The thing with that is not so bad because I can do the work, but doing QA/Team Lead work for so long, your typing speed just goes by the way side and now everyone is paid by the line and MMEs are paid by the line and cannot dedicate the time to help put out a quality document. The new thing is now with MQ, first time right, guess what - for 7-8c a line, and trying to support your family and still be true to patient care, something will slip somewhere and then, MQ will revamp, lose great MTs, MMEs and be back to the drawing board again. Bigger is not always better. I would love to find a QA job again, but in my search, not too many companies do that any more. Anyone know of a reputable company looking for a good QA/Supervisor. I am going back to work soon and I am just not sure that MQ is where I want to be after all the dedicated and loyal service I have put in. After many conversations I have found that their CCM - Customer Care Managers make more money, but they are mostly comprised of people who started out as CSRs in local offices and have absolutely no MT experience, that just sounds sad to me. Anyone with any ideas out there????

I work for Spheris and I was hired in October 2009 as a Medical Text Editor. I don't know what the future is if MQ takes over Spheris. We were told we would keep our same accounts, but you never know.

I know one thing, that it seems odd that if a company is going through bankruptcy, why is it acquiring new accounts (new hospitals)? Also, on a regular basis, we are asked to work overtime, and also on other accounts to help them catch up.

what I heard was that Spheris has filed bankruptcy and is currently in the auction status. They will continue to acquire new accounts which will make them more appealing for an investor or another company to purchase. I have read in recent emails that MQ will continue to employ Spheris employees and there should be no changes as far as letting people go. I am sure there will be revamping and changing around as far as supervisory positions. Currently MQ has just about dissolved all supervisory positions with the exception of a Quality Team Lead, Customer Care Mgr and Area Mgr. There are also other jobs in HR and such but for us in the trenches who are typing, there is no such thing as a QA position. It is called a Master Medical Editor and does QA/Editing of Voice Recognition and MT work. The biggest problem is, you never know what you are going to get, so building any kind of momentum is almost impossible. It is like changing hats at a department store. But, MQ is always about buying something and changing position titles, so I have to have a wait and see attitude. There is always work, great benefits and great people to work with. But, I just like to know what job I am doing.
