I use the autocorrect feature ALL the time. I have set so many short cuts and words in there if it ever crashes I am in big trouble. . . example. instead of typing patient all the time I just type pt and it expands it for me. . I also set it for phrases the docs use all the time. . i.e. .no clubbing, cyanosis or edema . I just type cce and it expands the phrase for me. I even have paragraphs in there that the doc uses all the time and it is a matter of me typing a few key strokes and the whole paragraph shows up. Makes my life so much easier and my typing time is cut way down. Needless to say I love autocorrect when it is set to the way I use it. It is really good for drug names that are hard to spell . . I put them in how they sound and it corrects them for me . .keeps me from having to look them up all the time.

What version are you using?

I use shortcuts and hotkeys on a daily basis. I have probably at least 100 if not more memorized for different programs. They really do allow you to work as fast as possible if used in the right context. Besides my hands are on the keyboard all day anyways, I might as well use it

If I didn't have my autocorrect and autotext features, I'd be keyboarding for 6 hours - instead I do 1000 lines in just a couple of hours. It is amazing how much time is saved. I do a clinic progress note with whole paragraphs of 'normals' added through these two features. Never have learned macros because they aren't needed. I've had three new computers and each time I call my computer person to come over and make sure the auto files transfer to the new computer (from MS Word 98 up to MS 2007) because I would be absolutely lost without them.

I noticed a lot of blogging about problems with numbering. I use autotext and autocorrect to start my numbered lists and that eliminates the odd and maddening problem with unwanted indentation of numbers.
Example:
ASSESSMENT & PLAN:
1.

Have it saved in autocorrect as ap.

PS: Today is my first day of EVER blogging - so bear with me please!
